Interiors
Calm is a practical design decision
Storage, sound and the useful space between objects.

Make space for what is used
Calm begins with a realistic account of daily life. Books, equipment and the things left at the door need a place. Storage should be close to the activity it supports.
Listen to the room
Hard surfaces reflect sound. Textiles, timber and carefully placed soft furniture can make conversation easier without filling a room with acoustic products. Comfort is partly something we hear.
Edit with purpose
An empty room is not necessarily calm. The aim is enough furniture, enough light and enough space for the people who live there. Each object should earn its place through use or meaning.
